The future of abortion rights in Virginia is far from secure.

What’s At Stake:

Democrats currently hold a 22-18 edge in the Senate, and Republicans hold a 52-48 majority in the House of Delegates.

An abortion ban in Virginia would leave 8.5 million people without the freedom to control their own lives. It would also have consequences far beyond our borders: If successful, Governor Youngkin is likely to use his record on abortion to boost his far-right credentials in the 2024 Presidential primary – and try to bring his extremism directly to the White House. A ban in Virginia would also eliminate a crucial mid-Atlantic haven for thousands of patients currently traveling to the Commonwealth for care, including from neighboring states of Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia.

It doesn’t have to be this way. This November, all 40 Senate seats and all 100 House seats are up for election in redrawn, untested districts. This is our best opportunity in a generation to build a pro-choice majority at the state level, one that finally reflects the 77% of Virginians who support abortion rights. If Republicans gain control, they will build on their previous attacks – and introduce, pass, and sign legislation to ban abortion outright in the Commonwealth.

The only thing standing between Virginians and a sweeping abortion ban – which Governor Youngkin has vowed to “gleefully” sign – is two votes.

Who We Are:

Roe Your Vote Virginia is a new PAC focused on helping abortion-rights candidates run and win in Virginia’s 2023 General Assembly elections. We are a group of advocates, legislators, and allies who have a history of on-the-ground work in the Commonwealth in support of reproductive health and freedom. We support candidates who are unapologetic and unabashedly pro-choice, and who will fight to keep politicians out of Virginians’ personal reproductive health decisions.

Our giving is governed by the following principles:

Why Us:

  • There are many races that will be important in 2023. Instead of picking dozens of candidates to support, we pick a handful of races where we know we can make a difference – and we invest significantly.

  • Competitive General Assembly races usually attract significant funding in the last 2-3 months of an election cycle. But early investments can win or lose a race – particularly at the state level.

  • So many important groups are mobilizing to support reproductive-freedom candidates in Virginia. Programmatic work – door knocking, campaign ads, phone banks – is incredibly important, and is already done well by grassroots groups on the ground. Our money is intentionally unrestricted, so that reproductive rights candidates can use it how and when they need it to win.

We are the only PAC in Virginia that will give to a narrow – but impactful – group of pro-choice candidates in competitive elections; give early and without restrictions; and give enough to win.
